Yes, it's another one of these threads again

Hopefully you'll all be as excited as I am.

So I'll stick to my traditional bullet list post to keep things simple:

• Xenforo 1.2 has released (never would have guessed that 1 year ago) and I will be upgrading our forums.
• The new 1.2 comes with tons of new features, administrative and front end as well as proper responsive design so we should finally be able to properly view the forums on our tablets and phones.
• A new theme (closer to our previous look) will be deployed to get us closer to a more traditional forum look. I still get complaints about scaling and sizing of the current theme and I can't have you guys dealing with that anymore.
• I will be updating our logo with the new official NNG logo designed by Doomforge
• I have also tapped into CrazyKillerCat for other graphics that need a bit of refreshing and updating. Based on what he's sent me so far, everyone is in for a nice surprise.
• I plan to start on the upgrade later this evening. During the upgrade time the forums will go completely offline. I'm hoping the upgrade takes only a couple hours but sometimes I have to clean up little odds and ends so it make take as long as four hours of things start going haywire.
• Planning to start the upgrade around 8:00PM this evening. Possibly later than that but definitely not sooner.

Xenforo 1.2 Upgrade Notes:

New Features

Amongst the new XenForo 1.2 features are the following:

• User merging and bulk user management
• Post edit history and logging
• Signature permissions
• Route filters (a system to change XenForo's URLs)
• Template modifications and comparison utilities
• Template merging and edit history
• A new editor with drag and drop, image paste support, user tagging, and iOS/Android support
• A fully responsive design
• Support for watching a forum
• User group and staff banners
• Bulk thread management

New Importers

Also new with XenForo 1.2 are importers for MyBB 1.6 and XenForo 1.2. These are available immediately within the Import External Data section of the XenForo Admin Control Panel. Note that both of these importers are themselves considered beta and in testing.

XenForo Resource Manager and Enhanced Search with 1.2

While the 1.0.1 releases of each of these add-ons work with XenForo 1.2.0, we recommend that you upgrade to the 1.0.2 releases each of add-on (if you are running them). They add full support for 1.2's changes. In the case of the Resource Manager, this includes full responsive support. See the release announcements for more details

Installation and Upgrade Instructions

Full details for how to install and upgrade XenForo can be found in the XenForo Manual.

Expect many add-ons and styles to be broken after upgrading to 1.2 (from 1.1). You must test your add-ons thoroughly or look for updates. Be especially careful with add-ons that cover similar features to ones that are added to 1.2; these may conflict with the core XenForo data. If data conflicts are found, they will need to be resolved in a new add-on release or by removing the add-on before upgrading to 1.2.

We highly recommend that you backup your data (database and files) before you upgrade to 1.2, particularly if you are running third-party add-ons. You may wish to also upgrade your test installation before updating production to make sure you are prepared.
