Upgrading pc, seeking advice.

I use MSI mpower board on my rig personally and it runs flawlessly for me. Perfect for overclocking and MSI is just an awesome brand in general

 

I will wait for black friday just incase something get cheaper and my rigs will prob be like this lol.

If there is a Microcenter in your area(within 200miles), then Frys and Staples will price match their CPU deals but not bundles. MC is the cheapest place to get a new mobo/proc, typically 100-150 less with a combo than all other merchants.

Last week Staples price matched a new 4770k at $199
32 GB - 4x8 GB G.Skill Ripjaw 1833 DDR3 Ram = $198 Newegg Sale
Asus ROG Hero - $200 at Amazon - not on sale but amazon has the best CSR and allows returns + sends another if original has a problem before RMA is complete, it was worth the extra $ to me to get it through them for that particular part


Why 32 GB of ram? I load video/photo/CAD files being edited into a RamDISK for an extreme producitivity boost. In games, especially PS2, it really helps reduce load times going from Hex to Hex and swapping in/out of vehicles/turrets/seats.
More than 32GB requires an LGA2011 mobo, will will add at least $100 to the total price in mobo alone.

One thing I'd highly recommend is getting a video card with at least 4GB of RAM, along with a $300 Korean 27" 2560x1440 IPS monitor that has overclocking ability. I really enjoy games much more at 2560 rather than 1920 and the IPS panel is easier on my eyes for work.



Side note:
My stuff showed as delivered while I was home.....went to the door...nothing. Checked with neighbors, one of whom recently installed a security cam and there are some asshats roaming my neighborhood in teams pretending to be walking, likely following delivery drivers, with a van driving around picking them up and stashing the things they steal. Be sure to pay extra for sign on delivery if it's an option! Now everyone is sold out of my parts......fark.

 

You can report your stuff as not delivered/stolen and they will work with you depending where you got it.

 

I did......but they don't have any more and sold out of the comparable products so they gave a refund.

 

Also worth noting - many of the improvements made since your Nehalem chip were for power consumption. In Texas, the 4770k saves me about $60/yr in electricity over the older i7's, with similar improvements in nvidia 600 series GPU+ as well. Generating all of that heat then having to air condition it gets expensive!

 

the only lost part is "windows 7" lolz for once i decide to go legit ... it get lost. Purolator tracking says "Attempted delivery - incomplete / incorrect address provided"

It either mean they tried to come to my home and i wasn't there, or newegg sent them the wrong shipping adress which is weird since i ordered everything at once and got everything else.
