Wishing There Was a Joystick Only Arcade Battle

I place exclusively with joystick, Pedals, and TrackIR and love the game, especially the immersion aspect.

Now getting shot down by a pubescent 12 year old playing on an old acer laptop using a mouse, not so much.

Just wishing there were joystick only arcade rooms, anyone heard if WT was planning anything like that?

I know about the realistic and sim stuff but those games sometimes take forever to start.

Arcade with a stick = FAIL
Fly sims with us. Games don't take long to start unless you want to fly a particular nation. Even than it will take no more than 3-5min. Judging by your avatar, you've got a monster set up and there is no reason why I havnt seen you in Sims with us

Hop in TS, drop to NoNonsense channel (This is the dedicated Sims channel) and we can fly all day.
Fly couple of sorties with us and see if you'll like it.

 

Well you do have to put some work into it but you can become just as good as the mouse aimers as long as you get the shooty bit down. I exclusively use the stick no matter what game mode I'm in and I always do pretty well as long as I'm not grinding crap aircraft. Sure as hell made me a better gunner in SBs (That's my secret Nraged ). If you can't beat the guy who lets the AI fly for him then how the heck do you expect to beat someone who knows how to fly?

The thing is to
1: Never accept a head on unless you are slow and gun heavy.
2: Carefully manage your speed so you don't bleed it every time you need to make a turn.
3: Always throw a little bit of vertical into your turns. Just something you can do much easier with the stick than with mouse aim so it has to be good right?

 

How do you know you were shot down by a 12 year old with a mouse? We win some we lose some, it's about playing the game and enjoying it regardless mate. It sounds like you have a bit of rage because you were shot down and you are venting.
A mouse does not make a plane turn faster, don't be ridiculous. The aircraft respond in exactly the same way, using a mouse won't make my rudder go any further than using a joystick. Aiming with a mouse? you got to be joking right? We all use the same reticle. Lining up shots is a matter of experience and skill, not mouse versus joy...

Your comment made me grin a little too, I first started playing WT on an old Acer laptop with a mouse, and although I have the maturity of not much more than a 12 year old I am 3 times older haha

Here's my flight sim, built from PVC pipe, 3 monitors attached to wall, In an apartment, the wife has not authorized much space for my man cave....

Nice set up! I had the same experience you are having coming into the game. I started flying Arcade with pedals, stick, and TrackIR only to get smoked in every game. I ended up having to switch over to mouse aim in Arcade and Historic. I just started flying FRB/Simulation about a week ago and it's been a ton of fun. Give it a go.

Anyways yea I just started using a stick myself and thought I would be fine in arcade...it actually wasn't too bad, although I do see the aiming bit problem and will need to practice to get that down, but I love it so much more than the mouse.

So these next few days off will be spent getting it down and hopefully I will be able to join you all in HB and what not!

 

Sims is where it's at dude! More the merrier.
