Ok so i am looking for a new monitor screen for my new computer that i am putting together. I have never purchased a pc monitor before so whats good ? Any reccomendations would be appreciated. However i am looking for something that comes in 120 hrtz 60 hrtz isn't going to cut the mustarde so to speak. I have no idea about aspect ratios, vn, tpn panels, colour contrast ratios etc so any explanation as to how important/unimportant these things are would also be appreciated.

    Cheers guys.

    Quick guide:
Viewing angle: How far from center you can put your head and not see washed out colors from a display.
Response time: The time it takes for a pixel to change color, usually measured from one shade of grey to another (GtG). Lower response times on monitors mean less motion blur and artifacts.
TN Panel: Fast, viewing angle and color reproduction not as good as other panels
IPS Panel: The best for color reproduction, slower than TN
Aspect ratio: The ratio of width:height of the monitor, traditional monitors are 4:3 (1024x768 resolution), widescreens are 16:10 (1680x1050 res) or 16:9 (1920x1080 res).

    What's your budget Mike?

    ASUS VG248QE

This is the monitor I and a couple other guys in the outfit have and it's great. 144hz, 1ms response time, 3D capable, lightboost capable. Full HD 1080P, it is a TN panel though, but I found with a little calibration that the colors are really good and the viewing angle isn't bad. You can upgrade this monitor with nvidia G-SYNC capability with a DIY kit (!).

    ASUS RoG Swift PG278Q

This is the latest gaming monitor from ASUS. This is the best gaming monitor out right now, but it comes at a price premium. 2560x1440 @144hz with 1ms response time, 3D + Lightboost and is G-SYNC capable. It is an IPS panel though! Due to the resolution you're gonna need a beefy computer to push this many pixels. Most reviewers even said GeForce Titans were struggling to keep up.

There are some BENQ gaming monitors which aren't bad but I have no experience with them.

I use the benq gl2450. I got it as I read that 1080p looks worse above 24" and my gpu does the best at 1080p. So I got what would look and run the best on my pc.

The monitor also happened to be a very good price. I have had no problems with mine and will probably get a second, maybe a third with a mount.

Loving the Asus 114htz :) 1ms response time so thats cool.
I am chasing frames not colours so that looks good to me. Going to have to find it cheaper than that though :P Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Edit: Yeah defs buying that from amazon now, With international priority shipping is the same as buying that from an AUS store before freight and surcharges of $100 + not including gst. Damn we get ripped off so hard down here.
