Last night I was very excited to see a couple of new platoon leaders getting a chance to take the reins, namely Ormadil and Greyxen. IMO they did an excellent job and stayed calm in the face of overwhelming enemy forces and from outfit members criticism, second guessing, lack of basic respect and barbed comments. Basically a lot of nonsense from some members of NoNonsenseGamers.

Everyone knows how mentally taxing it is to run an outfit of this size in a dynamic game of this complexity. Very few people have the knowledge, skill, patience, metal acuity, stamina, multi-tasking abilities and DESIRE to lead this outfit. We should all be very greatful to those who are willing to do it.

Just a few nights ago when Jaamaw was feeling burnt out and needed a break, someone asked "Is there anyone else willing to take over from Jaamaw?" There was silence. Sometimes someone steps forward and sometimes they dont but more often than not, operations basically cease and people log.

This outfit badly needs more regular platoon leaders and the FULL support of its members or it will fail. The heat of battle is most definitely not the time or place to question or criticise someone doing their best on behalf of the outfit and is a violations of NNG rules, especially a new leader cutting their teeth.

And it goes without saying, if you think you are up to the task, everyone will be happy if you tried.

I'm not a PS2 guy, but you hit the nail on the head. Traditionally this problem is mitigated by either and XO or high level NCO. These buffers make it easier for leader to focus on decision making and not cat herding. Perhaps this is something that the platoons could benefit from without making the chain of command to confusing. I'm sure there are plenty of players that have the people skills, but no desire to actually take the reigns.

You fool, have you any idea what you've done?! I have worked to perfect my facade of the bumbling rambler, and with one mildly grammaticly correct paragraph, you've destroyed it! You have no idea the impact you've wrought. I was happy at half pay with double the work load. Now I have to deal with praise and cheers of accomplishment. God, now your going to make Jaamaw get ideas about my true capabilities.

On a side note, I'm not a "new" platoon leader. I actually ran platoons for quite a while. I just perfer to sit back and take notes from all the other Platoon Leaders while I run squads, to pick up and modify tactics for personal use.

In conclusion, don't you dare call me nice things and give me praise, or suffer the wrath of Ormadil.

Neither is Greyxen, he ran the Septum Pro Vita outfit platoon many nights on Waterson NC

    Here, here!

It's pretty stressful running a platoon and it hurts you're score since you end up more focused on leading and calling shots then actual shooting. Making suggestions is fine, but don't bitch about the decisions unless you're ready to step up and take the reins.

First thing, I totally agree that it was great to see Orma and Grey leading platoons. They both did well as far as I'm concerned and earned my pat on the back, for whatever it's worth.
Secondly: I really have to say something that has been bugging me for a little while. When a platoon leader has to leave for whatever reason, it's like pulling teeth trying to get someone qualified to lead. I can understand that, I myself have no desire to do such a thing. I'll drop a squad bacon if though quits or DCs I'm leader. But what I don't understand is all the criticism and bitching from the same 3 or 4 wannabes.
If the leader asks for advice or suggestions as to where to go next, then talk, until then, just shut up.

I agree that passing leadership is hard and it should not be that hard because we have a lot of officers not and l don't see why it is so hard. If you assert yourself a little, you may be amazed at what you can accomplish or get out of the experience. I have been snagging up P leader more lately because I don't wanna wait 5 mins for someone to say they will lead or the leader picks someone. As Exilar said about asking for advice, he is right on that too. I ask for advice a lot from my squad leaders and what is going on but usually after I make a decision from all the advice I had gotten to go somewhere else or do something they did not mention, people get sour about it or aren't wanting to follow that order. Here is a news flash... PL has leadership and he asks for your opinions not your orders.
